PSG Framing is a family owned and operated business located in Somerville, MA. For over 50 years, PSG has been producing custom archival frames for galleries, museums, artists, and corporations in Boston and New York City. Jennifer Watkins, our Designer and Director, and David Marks, our Director of Operations, have worked together for over 30 years to provide our clients with the service, quality, and attention we are known for.

Our nearly 11,000 square foot facility and our team of talented framers enable us to produce fine custom frames quickly and efficiently for large projects, but every job gets the same attention, no matter how small. We use only museum quality archival methods and materials.

From the use of hand-torn Japanese paper hinges, 100% rag mats, and foam core backing, to the use of UV filtering glazing, the quality of the elements you can't see are every bit as important as the ones you do. You can trust us with the complete package. We strive to extend the care we put into protecting your art toward all our relationships, with our customers, staff and the environment.

our wonderful TEAM

MEET JENNNY WATKINS AND DAVID MARKS

What happens when two skilled framers work together for over 30 years? They are bound to run a company that knows what it is doing. The consistency with which PSG Framing has been managed has allowed for steady growth, while avoiding the common issue of knowledge being lost through turnovers. Their combined institutional knowledge as well as their experience in the framing world and the NY and Boston art worlds over the last three decades has been a constant that few other businesses can match. David Marks and Jenny Watkins have evolved with the times to accommodate changes in the industry, maintaining a level of quality and professionalism that enables PSG’s constant innovation. Jenny and David are able to collaborate to efficiently and skillfully oversee the processes that are involved in framing valuable artwork. They have a knack for customer service that has helped them cultivate many enjoyable long-standing business relationships. Their respect for one another and their devotion to PSG is the foundation upon which this company’s success is built.

MEET Jimmy PritcharD

He graduated in 2001 from the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, with a concentration in Painting and Audio Soundscaping. Jimmy has worked at PSG for over 4 years, and is the head of the Fitting Department in which he oversees the installation of your artwork in its brand new frame. He is the type of workman who decides that the workmanship he performs in PSG’s shop environment will be nothing short of perfect. His standards are exceptionally high, which helps us maintain our commitment to excellent quality. When Jimmy finds some free time away from PSG, he enjoys painting in an energetic abstract style that he uses to convey emotion or a story. He often finds music, dreams, and nature to be inspirations that help him visualize his pieces.

Meet Alvin Case

Alvin with Lucy Nebraska.jpg

He has worked for PSG Framing for hundreds of years. In the past he drove our truck to NYC, making deliveries to our out-of-state clients. He is now our IT Staff and Logistics Coordinator, as well as our sales outreach associate, and our local delivery artist. Alvin knows the back of the roads like his hand. And by that I mean as a truck driver, his knowledge of Boston’s back roads comes in very handy when it comes to optimizing delivery efficiency. In addition to all of these juggled responsibilities, Alvin is an independent filmmaker and a family man, making sure that his step-daughter Lucy gets where she needs to go... Oh, and he’s married to our fearless leader, Jenny. Alvin’s abundant experience and ingrained knowledge about the logistical workings of PSG are enough to make him an indispensable member of the staff… but his job security really lies in his regular use of the word “thingy.” AND SCENE.

Meet Ryoji Uyehara

Meet Ryoji! He is a long-standing member of our matting department, and is responsible for handling clients’ artwork directly as it passes through our line of production.   He has 18 years of experience working with PSG’s archival materials and methods, including mixing wheat starch paste for our Japanese paper hinges, and cutting mats within 1/32nd of an inch to ensure that PSG’s exacting standards are met. He assumes additional responsibility when we work with textiles, taking on projects that require artistic intuition and skill. Ryoji’s background in art has been essential in his time here, allowing him to work with the proper appreciation of the delicacy of these media. We’re also lucky because Ryoji brings his Husky dog Odie into the shop regularly and we get to worship him.
